Cross-Border Conundrums: India and Pakistan’s May 2025 Clash
Abstract The India-Pakistan conflict of May 2025, precipitated by the Pahalgam terrorist attack and India’s retaliatory Operation Sindoor, marked a significant escalation in bilateral tensions. This paper examines the catalysts, execution, and aftermath of the 87-hour war, focusing on the strategic, sociopolitical, and diplomatic ramifications. Drawing on open-source intelligence and geopolitical analysis, it argues that while Operation Sindoor redefined deterrence dynamics, it deepened regional instability, particularly in Kash- mir, and highlighted the urgent need for international mediation to prevent future nuclear brinkmanship.
